Chickasha district to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students after high school qualifies for community eligibility

District staff told board members that Chickasha Public Schools will provide free breakfast and lunch to all students PreK–12 beginning with the upcoming school year. Staff said the district filed to add Chickasha High School to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) based on district data and that the high school’s qualification was confirmed in June. Officials said the decision to provide free meals to all students is separate from statewide or federal messaging about school meal mandates. The district began the application process in February and staff said the high school’s data supported adding it to the CEP; sites will provide both breakfast and lunch to enrolled students without collection of paid-meal fees at point of service. Staff said the district will distribute updated handbook and communications materials and that operations staff will coordinate logistics at each site. Board members noted the policy’s districtwide implications and thanked staff for implementing the change ahead of the new school year.
