The Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation approved a $2,000 government-division membership with the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Cynthia Sakulitsi, representing the Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, presented the chamber's reach, corporate partnership options and promotional services to the board and invited cities and EDCs to join a new government division at a $2,000 level. She said the chamber "is the only chamber of commerce that represents the whole Rio Grande Valley" and described services including weekly "Week at a Glance" promotion and event sponsorship opportunities. Board members expressed interest in greater regional engagement. After discussion, a motion to approve a $2,000 membership for the chamber was made, seconded and approved on the record. The presentation highlighted the chamber's growth in corporate partners and its calendar of events, including annual legislative and gala events. The board asked the chamber to share contact and promotional materials so the EDC can coordinate event information and referrals.
