Volunteers plan Trunk-or-Treat parade; board approves one-day liquor license for playground fundraiser

Volunteers for North Brookfield Parks and Recreation briefed the Board of Selectmen on July 15 about plans to hold a Trunk-or-Treat event and a short parade on Halloween and asked residents to volunteer to help run the event. The volunteers said Trunk-or-Treat would run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Halloween on the common and that they hope to run a parade through the 271 North Main area so residents there can see children’s costumes. They described plans for hot dogs, chips and water on the common, food trucks and pop-up tables, and said they will not use the senior center to cook hot dogs at this time. "We have 500 people who come," one volunteer said, urging more residents to help. The board separately approved a one-day liquor license for a playground fundraiser scheduled Sept. 13, 2025, to be held outdoors in a parking lot from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The application lists karaoke, a band, a food truck and raffles; the board approved the license by voice vote. Volunteers said they will hold planning meetings in the coming weeks and asked town departments, police and fire to consider setting up information tables at the event. The board encouraged residents to sign up through Parks and Recreation and to fill volunteer forms at town hall.
