"I just gonna transfer $66,000 into my repair supplies," Precinct 2 representative Miss Campbell told the court when the item was introduced. The court voted to approve the budget amendments and later approved a separate transfer from Road and Bridge Line 15 into repairs to cover tire and maintenance needs. A motion to approve the transfer was seconded and commissioners voted by voice "aye." No roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Commissioners and road staff described multiple washouts, damaged low-water crossings, and repeated regrading on county roads: Commissioner Sullivan reported repeated washouts after recent rainfall and the need to clean bar ditches; other commissioners described culvert and crossing damage and additional hauling and repacking work.
County staff also announced a FEMA-funded project: Bowie Carnado will construct a cement low-water crossing on County Road 530 at Peppermint Creek, which is posted to be closed for about two weeks in July for the work, the court was told. "Bowie Carnado is going to do a, FEMA project for me. It's a low water crossing out of cement. It's on County Road 530. He's expecting, with weather permitting, July for 2 weeks. That road will be closed at Peppermint Creek," the court was told.
The court instructed staff to proceed with the budget amendments and to coordinate detours and public notices for the scheduled closure. Commissioners said they would continue to monitor material availability and FEMA reimbursements as recovery work proceeds.
