PACE Center renovation advances; fire-suppression mobilization eyed for fall

He said the contractor will soon mobilize to install an upgraded fire-suppression system — a complicated task because the auditorium requires a system protecting a large volume above ceiling while the seating area below must be protected differently. Pacheco said he expects fire-suppression work to start soon and that a fully operational system could stretch into December.
Other construction activity
Pacheco said crews are removing old block wood flooring where required, pouring slabs and preparing back areas for pre-K classrooms; the district is staging classroom furniture and supplies to support that work. He said water-service capacity is adequate but a pressure pump will be required to meet suppression demands; that work does not require a new service trench.
