Santaquin City Council adopted Resolution 07-04 July 15 to accept a deeded dedication of 100 North from a church parcel adjacent to a recent subdivision. The acceptance gives the city ownership of the roadway and the underground utilities in that right-of-way.
Staff explained the dedication was needed to provide a second entrance for a subdivision that was planned roughly 18 months to two years before the meeting, and that the property owner (identified during the meeting as a local church often referred to in discussion as “Pizza Hut Church”) has completed the conveyance. The city will assume maintenance responsibilities for the pavement, water lines and a storm drain; staff noted the council will need to include the road area in its annual maintenance program and budget for a storm-drain rebuild at the intersection.
Council members voted to approve the acceptance and asked staff to file the deed with county and circulate the signed documents. The mayor asked council members to sign the documents at the meeting so staff could forward them to the county recorder.
Ending: With acceptance, the city can maintain the roadway and underground utilities and proceed with the subdivision’s second‑entrance improvements and future maintenance planning.
