Mayor Michael Nyske and Milwaukee County supervisors presented and accepted a Milwaukee County Board proclamation commending the reopening of the Turf Skatepark in Greenfield, which reopened June 7, 2025.
The proclamation, moved by county supervisors Patty Logsdon and Kathleen "Kathy" Vincent, recognizes the city and local leaders for restoring a long‑buried legacy skate park and returning a community amenity to regular use.
Mayor Michael Nyske said the city welcomed the renewed public interest and noted the park’s cultural and historic importance. County Supervisor Kathy Vincent (reading portions of the proclamation) said she would continue working with the mayor to keep residents safe and to support the park’s operation. Several city staff and elected officials attended a brief recognition and photo opportunity following the mayor’s remarks.
City staff and council members described the skatepark project as a multi‑year restoration that culminated in the ribbon‑cutting and reopening on June 7, 2025. The county’s proclamation addresses the park’s rediscovery during construction and the community effort to restore it.
The ceremony also included informal remarks thanking staff, volunteers and local leaders who supported the project. The mayor and supervisors said they would follow up with a formal group photo and distribution of the county’s commendation to city officials.
