Peachtree City officials on July 14 praised a large turnout for the city's July 4 celebration, named parade trophy winners, accepted a $2,000 donation from the Southside Cycling Club to install a bike-repair station on the city's paths, and recognized five firefighters with life-saving awards.
Unidentified City Official, city official, said, "I honestly think this year's July 4 celebration was our best ever," noting that parade activities and fireworks drew strong participation. The official listed parade trophy recipients including Spirit of Peachtree City 2025 (Captain O'Brien and the Peachtree City Pirates), the most patriotic award to Salon 54, the most creative award to Friends of Flat Creek Floyd, the mayor's trophy to Mac Daddy and Son, and the grand marshal trophy to Peachtree City's running club.
The speaker said the council accepted a $2,000 donation from the Southside Cycling Club. The official said the club will "install on their own nickel" a bike-repair station along city paths and will provide materials and labor for path improvements. The remarks did not specify an exact location for the station, a timeline for installation, or whether the city will contribute installation support.
Council members also "acknowledged a life saving award" presented to five first responders for actions during a structure fire on April 7. The official named Lieutenant Robert Hardaway; firefighter paramedic Jennifer Griffin; firefighter EMT Jason Boswell; Brian McKenzie; and AEMT Angela Nanticoul as recipients. The remarks did not include additional incident details beyond the date and the acknowledgement.
The speaker also noted an author event hosted by the Peachtree City Library at the Crowne Plaza featuring novelist Brad Thor. The official said, "I think he has 25 books out," and mentioned his most recent title, Edge of Honor. Finally, the official invited families to a Home Run Derby event at Drake Field on July 14 at 6 p.m., which will include games, food trucks and a live showing of the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on a big screen.
These items were presented as announcements and recognitions during remarks; the donation acceptance and the life-saving award acknowledgement were described as actions taken or noted by the council, while the parade awards and event listings were presented as community highlights.
