Parks department reports cemetery sales, Scott cabin roof repair and park maintenance needs

At the Board of Public Works meeting, parks staff (Diane) gave an update on cemetery and park operations, saying the cemetery recorded one new cremation vault and three lot sales totaling $3,600 and that parks staff are monitoring 33 grass violations. Diane said repairs to the Scott cabin roof were completed but that a replacement roof had not been included in the department budget; she described the existing roof as about 25 years old and requiring repeated repairs. The parks team said they are meeting with a representative about replacing some outdated playground equipment and that they had removed a few hazardous trees recently. Diane also said a planned concert date was corrected to Aug. 9 and that three trees on a city right-of-way were scheduled for removal, with the Tree City funding those removals. She noted one possible property-damage claim at the Lions Club and that staff had taken photographs and engaged the insurance process. Staff said they were working on language for a new trail sign to reflect both phases of the trail and associated engineering information. Board members asked routine questions about water and other maintenance; no formal decisions or budget reallocations were made during the report.
