The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on June 4 accepted an annexation petition that would add a private property to the Yahots Rule Fire Protection District.

County counsel explained the process under state law: the petition, filed by Katie Bailey, requires a formal order from the Board and then submission to the Oregon Department of Revenue for review. Counsel said that if the packet meets requirements and has local approval, the Department of Revenue typically approves inclusion in the protection district.

Commissioner Walter Chuck moved to accept the annexation petition; Commissioner Casey Miller seconded. The board voted aye and the order will be sent to the Department of Revenue for final review.
