Commissioners approve shelving and generators for regional response trailers

Baker County commissioners voted to purchase equipment to outfit Eastern Oregon Regional Medical Reserve Corps (EORMRC) response trailers, approving one additional shelving unit and three generators. County staff said the items are part of a federal/state grant award and are not eligible for carryover, so the purchases must be completed now.

Emergency-management staff explained the shelving is a lighter-weight, adjustable system that mounts inside the trailers and secures tents and other response gear; three generators were identified as necessary to power equipment staged in trailers. Staff said existing trailers are currently being assembled and staged and that once shelving is installed the trailers will be ready for deployment.

A commissioner confirmed the purchases were budgeted and that the funds are available. The motion to buy the shelving unit (vendor: Vincent) and three generators from Factory Pure (total for generators $12,007.47) was approved unanimously. Commissioners asked about readiness for fire season and staff said the trailers will be ready once shelving is built and generators received; staff also discussed volunteer support for assembly and staging.
