Morgan Township fire chief reports grant awards, trustees approve medical direction PO

Morgan Township's fire chief reported the department received a state EMS Priority 1 grant and has submitted two other grant applications, then trustees approved a purchase order for medical direction services. At the meeting the fire chief said the township was awarded a State of Ohio EMS Priority 1 grant for $3,330.96 and that the department has already expended those funds while awaiting supplies. He also said the department applied to the Community Foundation HERO fund for $1,395 and to Norfolk Southern Railway for hose equipment totaling $14,894 and is awaiting decisions. The chief reported call volume increases: "That puts us at 271 responses for the year so far," he said, and added that average out-the-door time met state and federal standards at 1 minute and 38 seconds. Trustees approved a purchase order to Roderick M. Huff, MD, for medical direction services covering Jan. 1' to June 30, 2025, in the amount of $6,000 from fund 2281. The motion passed on a recorded vote with trustees voting in favor. The chief also summarized training, inspections, mutual-aid transports and that mutual aid resulted in neighboring townships transporting patients when runs occurred simultaneously. No further conditions or amendments to the medical-direction contract were provided at the meeting.
