Victoria ISD’s board voted unanimously on June 19 to adopt five district improvement goals for the 2025–26 school year that emphasize student achievement, graduation/college-and-career readiness (CCMR), attendance and advanced-course participation.
Why it matters: The goals set measurable district priorities used to align campus action plans, staffing, and summer instructional work. The board approved targets intended to be achievable in the near term given the district’s preliminary 2025 assessment results.
The goals the board adopted cover:
- Improved student performance on state assessments (third-grade reading and elementary/middle math indicators tied to House Bill 3 expectations).
- Graduation rate and college, career and military readiness (CCMR) targets at the high-school level.
- District attendance rate improvements and reduction of chronic absenteeism.
- Expanded participation in dual-credit and AP courses and other advanced opportunities.
Presenters noted some baselines in the draft goals were set using earlier data; preliminary results presented earlier in the meeting already closed parts of the gap for some measures (for example, third-grade reading moved from a baseline of 34% toward a projected 42% in preliminary data). The board approved the district goals as recommended by the superintendent; staff will publish the supporting key performance indicators and campus action plans.
Ending: The board said these broad goals will guide summer planning and the academic playbook implementation; staff will return with more detailed KPIs and action plans tied to each goal.
