Traffic shift, occasional lane closures planned on Brandon Mill Road during sidewalk work

A staff member said work on the final of three sections of the Brandon Mill Road sidewalk project in Sandy Springs requires a temporary northbound traffic shift and occasional lane closures.

The work connects Lost Corner Preserve to the Abernathy Greenway and is taking place in the work zone between Brandon Ridge and Lost Forest Drive. "If you're traveling through the work zone between Brandon Ridge and Lost Forest Drive, you'll notice a small traffic shift to the northbound lanes," the staff member said, adding that the temporary move "allows for a safer space for crews to build a wall along the southbound lanes."

The staff member said the road will be shifted slightly to the south when the project wraps up. "When the project wraps up, which is expected to happen in the winter of this year, the road will actually be shifted slightly to the south," the staff member said.

Officials warned drivers to expect occasional lane closures and to slow down through the work zone. "There will be some occasional lane closures, so make sure you're driving slow through the work zone. We want everyone to stay safe," the staff member said, and asked motorists to "follow us on social media for updates on everything that's happening around the city."
