Angela Page, principal of Rough Hollow Elementary, presented the campus's year in review, outlining academic priorities, student leadership initiatives, family engagement and plans for next year.
Page said Rough Hollow opened in 2020 and currently enrolls about 727 students with 82 staff members. She told trustees the campus will add a life‑skills program next year, which she estimated would bring 11–15 additional students and about nine staff members.
To accelerate academic growth, Page said the campus emphasized math and reading growth, used common campus assessments, held monthly MTSS meetings and implemented a districtwide "power hour" for targeted instruction and flexible groupings. She said the campus focused on expanding leadership opportunities for all students, including kindergarten through grade two, and that the student leadership team raised funds to buy recess equipment that was presented at a Rattler rally.
Page described a community fundraiser that raised $8,000 for Austin Pets Alive and highlighted robust family and PTO involvement in campus events such as multicultural night, talent show and field days. She said the campus also invested in teacher professional learning, used a train‑the‑trainer model to spread best practices and held student‑driven recognitions such as "Teacher Rattler Rock Stars."
Looking ahead, Page said Rough Hollow will expand STEM and science enrichment within the school day and work with the PTO to provide a maker space so every student will have access at least once per week. Trustees praised the campus culture and expressed appreciation for the principal's leadership in a year of growth and transition.
No board action was required for the presentation; trustees asked clarifying questions about anticipated enrollment and onboarding practices for new principals.
