Construction update: FRENSHIP ISD shows progress on new high school, athletics and fine-arts projects

FRENSHIP ISD staff provided a construction update to the Board of Trustees covering progress at Memorial High School, the new fieldhouse and athletic facilities, and related site work tied to the district’s bond projects.
Kevin Cockrell (construction update presenter) told trustees exterior windows and doors at the new high school are installed, roofing is about 95% complete, and interior work—ceilings, sound panels, millwork and furniture installation—was underway. Cockrell said the practice gym also doubles as a designated storm shelter and that battery backup systems have been installed to power ventilation and lighting "for a solid hundred and 20 minutes." He described turf installs on football and soccer fields, new stadium lights, indoor batting and golf practice areas, and improvements to locker rooms and concession stands.
Board members asked scheduling and completion questions. Cockrell said multiple commissioning steps remained: he reported seven of 13 fire final sections complete and projected additional section completions in the coming week; he also noted furniture is installed in five sections. Board president Mister Miller acknowledged the pace and thanked Cockrell and staff for meeting deadlines.
The update was informational; no formal board action was taken. Trustees then moved to consent and other agenda items.
