Frenship ISD bond construction: Memorial High exterior nearly complete; ninth-grade addition and campus renovations continue

District staff provided a progress update on 2020 bond construction work, reporting near-complete exteriors at Memorial High School and active interior and site work across multiple campuses.
Kevin Conklin, staff member (construction), told trustees the Memorial High School exterior is about 98–99% complete, with asphalt drives, bollards and an expanded front walkway in place. Inside the building, administration described maple flooring being installed in the main gym, auditorium seating in place (covered for dust protection), library millwork and carpet laid in common areas.
Conklin said the field house exterior is about 99% complete and that stadium turf, stands and new LED stadium lighting are installed. He also described ongoing work across baseball and softball fields, concession areas and installation of training-area floors and coach offices.
Work at the former ninth-grade center includes a south-side addition, a new fine-arts/music wing and conversion of some former spaces into life-skills and art rooms. Conklin said masonry and exterior finishes are nearly complete and that contractors are framing and finishing interior walls for classrooms, culinary/serving lines and locker rooms.
Why it matters: trustees heard that the bond-funded projects are progressing toward occupancy and athletic-season readiness; no final occupancy dates were presented in the update, and staff said work remains on interior finishes, site concrete and other punch-list items.
What’s next: staff said furniture installation and final inspections are scheduled in the coming weeks and that the construction team will continue site work on athletic fields and final interior touches.
