The Metropolitan Council on July 14 approved BL 20 25 7 52, an amendment to Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws to rezone 39.27 acres near Cane Ridge Road to a specific plan allowing 58 single-family lots and 74 townhome/multifamily dwellings.
The vote followed review of an amendment that incorporated the Planning Commission’s conditions of approval. Matt Wilkinson of the Council Office summarized the amendment as adding the Planning Commission’s conditions to the corrected plan set, including updated landscape standards, a required 20-foot landscape buffer, revisions to illustrated plans and setback notes, and a provision for staff to evaluate right-of-way reservations and emergency access during final SP review. Wilkinson said there are 13 total planning conditions added to the corrected set of plans.
Councilmember Lee moved the bill; the amendment was adopted by voice vote. Councilmembers then voted to approve the bill as amended. The companion bill, BL 20 25 7 53, which authorizes related building material restrictions and requirements, was taken up after and approved by voice vote.
The council did not provide a roll-call tally in the transcript for the individual bill votes; the record shows the amendment and the final bill passed by voice vote. The Council’s chair asked the planning staff to explain the specific conditions, and Wilkinson read several of them into the record so they are attached to the ordinance through the amendment.
No additional binding commitments to school capacity, traffic mitigation beyond the listed planning conditions, or funding allocations were recorded in the discussion for this bill.
The ordinance amends Title 17 (the zoning ordinance) for the parcels described in the bill; the transcript records that the final motion carried and that the council intended to take up the companion building-material restrictions bill immediately afterward, which also carried.
