The Leonardtown Arts & Entertainment (A&E) District Committee unanimously recommended Ty Bressy on July 24 to prepare the town's public art master plan under a $25,000 budget, staff reported to the council.
The committee reviewed three proposals at a June 26 meeting and selected Bressy based on regional experience and a straightforward budget, Michelle (Staff member) told the council. The $25,000 budget will combine an $18,000 technical assistance grant from the Main Street program with a $7,000 match from the town budget.
Michelle (Staff member) said, "Ty was the one who did the Berry plan that we looked at originally," adding that the other proposals were strong but included additional expenses or less familiarity with Southern Maryland.
The council had previously authorized the A&E committee to review and select a consultant; staff said no further council action was required at this meeting. The consultant selection is scheduled to begin with a kickoff meeting between staff and Bressy in the days following the council meeting.
Less critical: committee members praised the proposals and said the plan will guide future public-art projects and spending in the A&E District.
