The operator, David Seager, told the commission the brunch shifts will be weekend‑only and that dinner shifts will operate seven nights a week: "We're gonna be operating the brunch shifts on Saturday, Sunday. There's no lunch during the week. So it's just weekends that they'll need that space for." Commissioners adjusted the motion to approve the valet zone for 6 p.m.–midnight daily and 11 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays; the voice vote passed.
For the Holiday Inn Express (item 5.8), staff said the hotel expected about 20–25 vehicles during peak periods and requested three contiguous valet spaces in a cutout on Louise Avenue. Commissioners discussed whether two spaces would suffice but were told the cutout length measures for three spaces and that mixed‑use shared spaces are difficult to manage. Staff explained the annual permit fee calculation and estimated a yearly permit in the low thousands; during the discussion staff calculated roughly $6,132 for three spaces using the permit formula (3 spaces × 365 days × $28 per space × 1.2 buffer). A hotel representative and staff clarified the three‑space area is set back from the intersection for safety.
A motion to approve the Malloy Street valet hours (with the weekend brunch clarification) and a separate motion to approve the Holiday Inn Express valet cutout as requested were both seconded and passed by voice vote.
Staff said both valet operations will be monitored for compliance with the valet code and that violations would be enforced under existing rules. The commission did not change permit fees at the meeting; staff will issue annual permits under the current fee schedule.
