Medina City Council on July 14 adopted an ordinance authorizing the mayor to endorse an insurance check related to a fiscal-year-2018 CHIP rehabilitation project at 749 North Huntington Street, allowing the homeowner to receive insurance proceeds to make repairs. The council also adopted the emergency clause to expedite the repair process; the measures passed 7-0.
Community Planning & Development Director Dutton explained the property had previously received CHIP funds and the city holds a lien on the property, so the ordinance permits the mayor to sign off on the insurance check and allow repairs to proceed. The emergency clause was requested so the homeowner could promptly make needed repairs, Dutton said.
Council adopted Ordinance 01/29/25 by roll call, with unanimous support. The meeting record does not name the homeowner, list the insurance check amount, or provide detailed repair scopes; staff said endorsement is necessary because of the city’s lien associated with the prior CHIP assistance.
