Medina City Council on July 14 adopted an ordinance to increase day-pass rates at the Medina Recreation Center, raising regular day passes by $2 and special-circumstance day passes by $1. The measure passed unanimously, 7-0.
Parks and Recreation Director Worley told council the modest increases are intended to offset rising staffing and pool-chemical costs and to encourage local users to purchase memberships rather than rely on day passes. Worley said the rec center is experiencing increased patronage, including visitors from outside Medina County, especially after recent pool renovations.
Worley also provided operational notes: during the upcoming council recess the recreation center will be closed for fair-week cleaning from July 28 through Aug. 1, and the men's and women's main locker rooms are undergoing renovations and will remain closed through Aug. 13.
The ordinance (01/26/25) replaces the prior membership/rate ordinance and was supported by the rec center advisory committee during budget hearings. Council adopted the ordinance by roll-call vote; no dissent was recorded.
