The Birdville ISD board on June 17 accepted 28 employee resignations and approved a set of administrative and teacher hiring recommendations submitted by the superintendent. The personnel motion passed unanimously in open session.
Board members moved to adopt the personnel slate after convening earlier in a closed session that, according to the board, included consideration of personnel matters as allowed under the Texas Government Code. Following the vote, Dr. Stinson, Birdville ISD superintendent, introduced one administrative appointment the superintendent highlighted at the meeting.
Dr. Stinson told trustees the board is hiring Megan Overman as the district’s chief of communications and said, "Megan is being hired as our chief of communications, and we are so excited to have her come full circle and return to Birdville." The superintendent noted that Mark Thomas, who helped start the communications department with Overman and announced his retirement effective December 2025, will serve as a special adviser through the transition.
Why it matters: The approved personnel actions realign campus and district staffing ahead of the 2025–26 school year. Filling the chief communications post and other administrative roles affects district messaging, project continuity and the implementation of budget and compensation changes adopted by the board.
Vote and procedure
Board members voted to approve the personnel items as presented following closed‑session consideration. The motion was made and seconded on the record and the board reported unanimous approval during open session.
Implementation steps
Human Resources was directed to process the resignations and complete hiring paperwork for the administrative and teacher recommendations approved at the meeting. Dr. Stinson announced the new communications hire publicly at the meeting and thanked staff and board members for their work on personnel transitions.
Ending
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for June 26 in the Administration Building Boardroom, when staff indicated additional budget and tax‑rate items may be discussed.
