Irene Negaglione of IN2 presented a progress report on Birdville ISD bond projects, telling the board several campuses were moving from construction into punch-list and commissioning activities.
Negaglione said the Griggs High School and the Linda Kunkel Specialized Learning Center had held a ribbon cutting and are in punch-list work (about 70 percent complete); exterior bollards and final striping, window treatments and elevator approvals are being finalized. She showed photographs of the entrance, collaboration spaces, gymnasium/storm shelter and shared library space.
At the BISD Plaza, the close-connection project is nearing completion, with fire-alarm work and exterior signage outstanding and a permit from the city in place. A child nutrition warehouse is being installed at the plaza with cooler/freezer equipment identified as a long-lead item; Negaglione said cooler/freezer lead times are approximately four months and that interior demolition and slab work are scheduled to allow equipment installation with a year-end completion target.
Administrative-complex renovations and a purchasing warehouse project were in staged work: Building 1 carpet and cubicle reinstallation and painting are complete with a staff move planned for August; Buildings 2 and 3 are targeted for October completion; Building 4 requires minor city permit comments and is slated for early next year. The contractor for many district projects is Lee Lewis, and Negaglione said slab repairs and electrical documentation are in progress where settlement issues were found.
Security fencing projects at Birdville High School and Richland High School have permits and materials on site; foundation and post installation were under way with an anticipated completion by August.
Board members had no substantive questions beyond thanking IN2 for the update. Administration will return with additional schedule milestones and final completion reports as items move from punch lists to turnover.
