The North Richland Hills City Council on Monday received the 2024–25 year-end report from the Youth Advisory Committee and voted to accept it.
Paulette Hartman introduced the committee’s report, and committee chair Ally Creasy and vice chair Parker Meek presented highlights: the committee had 11 student members this year from Birdville and Richland high schools, organized two community service projects — volunteer photo sessions at the Animal Adoption Center to help pets get adopted, and “Tech Talks with Teens” at the NRH Senior Center where students taught seniors how to use smartphones and passwords — and planned to expand membership and events next year.
“Tech Talks with Teens was our premier event... we held two one-hour sessions, each with over 20 citizens attending,” Parker Meek said. The council thanked the youth members and voted 7–0 to receive the report.
Outcome
A motion to receive the Youth Advisory Committee report passed unanimously. Councilmembers praised the committee’s outreach and encouraged continued programming that pairs students with community service needs.
Next steps
Committee leaders said they plan recruitment for 16 members next year and additional senior tech events and potential community cleanups.
