North Richland Hills, Texas — The City Council selected Kelvin Dupree Tuesday to serve as mayor pro tem for a one-year term.
Alicia Richardson explained the selection is identified in the North Richland Hills City Charter: the mayor pro tem serves in the absence or disability of the mayor, is selected from among council members and is appointed at the regular meeting following the general election and swearing-in. Councilmember Crystal Blake nominated Kelvin Dupree; Councilmember Roberts seconded the nomination. The council voted 6-0 to approve.
The mayor pro tem serves when the mayor is absent and the council indicated it will address operating procedures at a future meeting to clarify other deputy or associate pro tem roles referenced in staff materials.
