North Richland Hills, Texas — The City Council voted Tuesday to nominate Tyson Prepared Foods for designation as an enterprise project under the Texas Enterprise Zone program, a state initiative that can provide incentives for job creation and capital investment.
Economic development staff said Tyson, at 6350 Browning Court, operates a roughly 200,000-square-foot facility on about 11 acres and employs approximately 375 full-time workers. Staff told council the company plans to invest more than $5 million to upgrade machinery and that, under the state program, qualifying firms can receive up to $2,500 per job created or retained, with a five-year cap; staff estimated the nomination could lead to up to $625,000 in state incentives if the company wins the competitive application.
Craig Holes presented the item to the council and answered council questions. Councilmember Crystal Blake moved to approve Resolution 2025-529 nominating Tyson Prepared Foods; Councilmember Parks seconded. The resolution passed 6-0.
The nomination is a local step in a competitive statewide program; staff said this is the city's fourth nomination for Tyson and that two of the prior three nominations were approved. A nomination does not guarantee final state approval or payment of incentives; any incentives would require state review and award.
Provenance: Presentation and vote on the resolution appear in the meeting record during the regular meeting agenda.
