The magistrate granted a partial reduction in a large code‑enforcement lien assessed against the property at 4401 Gulf Boulevard. Wesley Shaw, a district manager for the tenant (Walgreens), explained the property sustained customer‑caused damage that the store escalated through the company’s repair process and that multiple hurricanes and permit delays extended the repair timeline.
City code enforcement manager Pete Dewar provided the lien totals in court; the magistrate confirmed the original lien and administrative fees in the record and said she would reduce the lien to a smaller, time‑limited amount to encourage prompt payment and avoid protracted collection. The magistrate ordered the reduced amount and the $368.50 in administrative costs to be paid within 30 days of the order; if not paid within that window, the full previously assessed lien will be reinstated.
The magistrate directed that she would send a written order to the tenant representative and to the property owner and said the order will be recorded unless the city requests otherwise. The magistrate noted limited factual disagreement about notice and encouraged direct contact between the parties to ensure receipt of the written order.
