Staff updates on recreation-center procurement, pickleball timeline and RWD contract extension

Brian (parks staff member) told the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission on July 14 that the review panel for the recreation-center procurement had completed grading and the results were submitted to Sandra; interviews with top firms will be scheduled next.

On pickleball, staff said the RWD contract will be extended through the end of the year as permitting and stormwater design continue. Brian said permit and stormwater design work is ongoing and that the design should reach 100% completion by the end of the year; staff noted they will pursue a second round of grant funding after the state program adjustments that affected the first round.

Staff also discussed a possible pickleball open house to engage the community and noted timing could shift toward the end of summer; no final date was set. Commissioners and staff emphasized the need to stage and complete projects rather than leaving them partially finished.
