Smyrna held the first of three public hearings required on its 2025 millage rate on Tuesday, with city officials saying the rate will remain at 8.99 and that homesteaded properties will not see a city property-tax increase.
Mayor Corky said, “All homesteaded properties in the city of Smyrna will not see a property tax increase from our from the city.” Mr. Jones, a city staff member who read background information for the item, said, “Actual millage rate is 8.99.”
The hearing was the first of three required public hearings; no vote was scheduled or taken at the meeting. The mayor opened the hearing to public comment and, after seeing no one present, closed the public hearing.
City officials said this marks the eighteenth year in a row the city has kept the same millage rate since 2007. The hearing record shows no public comments were received at the meeting and that further hearings remain to be held before any formal action.
The council did not take a formal vote on the millage rate at this session. Additional hearings and any eventual vote were not scheduled on the record at this meeting.
