Manhasset Board swears in trustees, elects officers and approves routine 2025–26 governance items

The Manhasset Board of Education swore in newly elected trustees and organized its leadership for the 2025–26 school year, electing Ted Post as board president and Nadia Gianopoli as vice president and approving a slate of routine appointments and policy reaffirmations.
The actions set administrative authority for the district before the July 1 start of the school year. The board formally appointed Nicole Rosenberg as clerk of the board for the 2025–26 year, Sunjeev Chaprae as district treasurer and Gerard Antoine as assistant treasurer. Trustee Allison O'Brien Silva was appointed to the audit committee for a one-year term.
Those governance appointments allow the district to carry out business-office functions and committee oversight. The board also approved membership and operational designations that govern district finances, including designation of JPMorgan Chase and the Bank of New York as custodians and depositories, and reaffirmed the district's participation in the Nassau County Schools Cooperative self-insurance plan for workers' compensation.
Among the routine authorizations approved were: authority for designated staff to open bids for the 2025–26 year; delegation for budget transfers over $10,000 to be approved by the board president (or vice president in the president's absence) with routine transfers handled by the business office; authorization for attendance at conferences and workshops; and authorization for the superintendent to apply for grants and state aid.
The board renewed its Code of Conduct for the coming year. Trustees noted the district is separately reviewing the personal electronic devices policy (commonly referred to in discussion as the cell phone policy) and said any changes would be reflected in the Code of Conduct after that review. The board also reaffirmed policies on parent involvement, investments, purchasing authority and other routine governance policies.
The district designated the Manhasset Press and Long Island Business News as the official newspapers for the 2025–26 academic year and approved the board meeting calendar and administrative schedules posted for the year. The board set substitute teacher rates at $130 per day for elementary substitutes and $150 per day for secondary substitutes; retired district teachers serving as substitutes were set at $150 per day (elementary) and $170 per day (secondary).
Most items were approved by voice vote after brief staff presentation; there was minimal debate during the reorganizational session. The meeting concluded after the board completed the listed organizational business and appointments for the upcoming year.
