Council members and MetroNet representatives discussed earlier concerns that portions of the proposed route might lie on private property rather than in the public right-of-way. City staff and MetroNet said updated maps had been submitted for review; council members asked staff to confirm whether any lines ran behind sidewalks or outside the right-of-way before final permitting. The council’s approval was explicitly made “subject to final approval by engineer.”
MetroNet representatives said they had revised the route with their engineering firm and had sent updated plans to city staff for review. City members asked staff to verify the changes and to resolve specific instances where lines appeared to be on private property or behind a wall or sidewalk.
The motion to approve the permit, conditioned on engineering confirmation, was made by Director Gallagher and seconded by Council President Dickinson. The council approved the motion by voice vote.
Staff will confirm the plan revisions and notify the council if any portion of the proposed route requires relocation or additional easements before a final permit is issued.
