During the budget workshop councilors raised questions about a line item attributed to Greater Lawrence Technical School and asked the administration to confirm the underlying obligation and apportionment.
Council members recalled prior GLTS requests related to facilities and asked staff whether the city is paying a bonded amount or a lease for a building purchase. The CAFO said the GLTS financial statement supplied a number for the current year's lease payment and that staff would verify the underlying obligation and how the cost is allocated among member communities.
Councilors also asked whether any GLTS or other regional vocational school costs are being passed through to Methuen and whether the cost allocation is correct. The CAFO agreed to follow up with GLTS and provide clear documentation to the council at the next meeting.
No budget action was taken; councilors requested documentation ahead of the next hearing to confirm the city's liabilities and whether any amounts were funded by grants or other partners.
