The Kirkland Performance Center (KPC) will pause performances through August while it replaces an older rope rigging system and installs new lighting and staging technology, the city said on the July 10 podcast.
"They're replacing their old rope rigging system. They're gonna get new lighting and new staging technology," Angela Brown, co‑host of This Week in Kirkland, said. The podcast said the city had partnered with KPC on safety and energy‑efficiency improvements and that state funding, donors and partners had nearly fully funded the effort.
The podcast advised theatergoers that shows would resume in the fall and directed listeners to ElevateKPC.org for information on funding and the renovation program. No specific dollar amounts or a detailed construction schedule were provided during the segment.
This was presented as news about facility upgrades; there were no formal city hearings or motions announced on the podcast. The city encouraged patrons to check KPC's site for program and ticket updates during the pause.
