Mayor John Leach Jr. urged residents and visitors to take advantage of community programming in Show Low and the surrounding White Mountains during a brief public announcement. He encouraged people to “get out and enjoy the White Mountains.”
Communications Manager Grace Payne said the city coordinates programming across the recreation center, the library and the aquatic center and that, "more than 25 activities every single month" are offered on average. She told listeners the city web page is the best place to find information and that residents can download the city app, sign up for notifications and follow the city on social media.
The remarks named other nearby communities where similar outreach occurs, including Pinetop-Lakeside, Springerville, Taylor and Snowflake, and referenced events at Sunrise. Leach described the White Mountains as having robust summertime activities and thanked Payne for outlining ways people can learn about them.
The announcement came as a short communications update from the mayor's office; no formal city council action, vote or policy change was discussed or taken in the recorded remarks. The message focused on outreach and information channels rather than program budgets or new initiatives.
For more information, Payne advised checking the City of Show Low website, downloading the city app or signing up for notifications on the site to see schedules and registration details for recreation, library and aquatic programs.
