The Village of Indian Head Park Board of Trustees approved Resolution 2025-20 on July 10 to purchase and install a vehicle lift for the Public Works garage. Public Works Director Joe told trustees the village budgeted $45,000 in the capital plan for a lift this year but found a stationary lift and local installation contractors for a total of $14,200.
“We decided to go with a permanent mount type of lift and it saved us quite a bit of money,” Joe said, explaining that mobile lifts were more expensive and site assessment showed a stationary mount would suit the garage layout. He said the lift will extend the service life and uptime of village vehicles, reduce outsourced maintenance costs and assist with preventive work on police cars and other fleet vehicles; he noted the village’s 3-ton dump truck cannot be lifted.
Joe said staff consulted the village insurer and will schedule annual inspections as required. Trustees asked about training; Joe said staff plan to have personnel certified and that IRMA (the village insurer) provides training. Gavin suggested that certification might yield insurance cost savings if confirmed with the insurer.
The board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote of 5-0 to approve the lift purchase and installation. The motion authorizes the contract with Rubber Inc. (Romeoville) for the lift and Aardvark Electric Services (Downers Grove) for electrical work, and directs staff to schedule required inspections and training.
