Felida Hadley, representing the James County Drug and Alcohol Task Force, used the public-comment period to announce three upcoming community events and outreach efforts for parents.

Hadley said Centerstone will host an open parent forum called "Let's Talk: Mental Health" on July 15 from 6 to 7 p.m. at North Vernon Elementary. She also said a back-to-school event is scheduled for July 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the CSL Clubhouse; Hadley said the event will offer haircuts, health screenings, backpacks and school supplies and that signage will be posted to direct attendees around current construction at the clubhouse.

Hadley said the group will circulate a parent-café survey on ParentSquare and across social media to gather parent feedback about needs and resources; results of the survey will guide the scheduling and topics of future parent informational forums. She asked parents to watch the new Jennings County School Corporation Facebook page for postings; district staff confirmed the corporation has a new official page and will share community posts there.

These announcements were made during the public-participation portion of the meeting and required no board action.
