Lycoming County Commissioners voted Thursday to increase American Rescue Workers’ ARPA award and to raise funding for a Williamsport Municipal Water Authority project, commissioners said.

The commissioners approved amendment No. 1 to the American Rescue Workers agreement, increasing the award from $100,000 to $147,017 and extending the agreement’s termination date to 2026, Kristin McLaughlin said. The board approved the change by voice vote.

The increase for American Rescue Workers funds a local homeless-services provider the county has supported for years; staff from the organization attended the meeting to thank commissioners, one speaker said.

Commissioners also approved amendment No. 4 for WMWA, raising its award from $1,040,944 to $1,331,894 and amending the project budget for the Brook Street pressure‑reducing valve relocation to $931,800, McLaughlin said. The board moved and seconded the items and voted approval by voice.

During the WMWA item a commissioner thanked county staff and ARPA project managers for their work on multiple projects funded through ARPA. No dissent or roll-call votes were recorded in the public minutes.

The amendments were presented under action items on the agenda and there were no separate motions to withhold funds pending additional review; both amendments were approved as presented. The county did not provide a detailed line‑item breakdown of the additional funds during the meeting; staff indicated the Brook Street figure reflects the amended construction budget.

Commissioners’ approval allows staff to proceed with contract and budget changes required to implement the amended awards. The county’s next public meeting is scheduled for July 17, 2025, when follow-up items could appear.
