The Montgomery County Board of Education unanimously confirmed a slate of administrative appointments and principal placements at its July 10 meeting.
The board confirmed internal candidates and new hires for senior roles in transportation, equity, facilities, human resources, budget and school leadership. Appointments announced and confirmed included Michael Lewis as deputy chief of transportation; Norman L. Coleman as director of Student Conduct and Appeals and of the Division of Equity and Organizational Development; Shannon Paddyfoot as director in the Department of Management and Budget; John Ander as director of Facilities Operations; Sarah E. Deal as executive director in the Division of Human Resources and Talent Management; LaKisha Lashley as director of the George B. Thomas Senior Learning Academy; and Emerald J. Becker as supervisor of Central Records and Reporting in Shared Accountability. The board also confirmed several principals and principal appointments, including Ahmed Adelekan at James Hubert Blake High School, Joseph D. Bostick Jr. at Thomas Wooten High School, Edith Yoo Lee at Whetstone Elementary School, Monica G. Kellner at Twinbrook Elementary School and Stacy L. Heinz at Stephen Knolls School, among others.
Administrators introduced candidates and the board provided an opportunity for brief remarks before taking separate confirmation motions for each appointment. Each confirmation motion received a second and, per the transcript, carried unanimously among those present.
What’s next: Confirmed administrators will assume their stated duties in their respective departments and schools; the board offered congratulations and invited brief remarks from some appointees. No opposition or abstentions were recorded in the meeting transcript.
