Chief of Schools Dr. Peter Moran and principals Nicole Walker (Westland Middle School) and Angelica Bridal Smith (Farquhar Middle School) said the district replaced lengthy, hard‑to‑use documents with a streamlined format intended to increase clarity, accountability and school‑level ownership. The one‑page format highlights priorities in literacy, math, English‑language proficiency and culture/climate; it also identifies leader learning and cross‑functional team supports.
Principals said schools may choose one of two templates: an elementary/middle model with four quadrants tied to report‑card components, and a high‑school model that includes graduation and college‑and‑career readiness measures. The broad goals and public one‑page plans will be posted on school websites; a separate monitoring plan with student‑level and teacher‑level details will be used internally by school and central‑office teams to track progress quarterly.
Moran said the district will tier central‑office supports based on data: schools needing greater improvement will receive more intensive, cross‑functional interventions. The revised plans are due in September and central services will pre‑populate several data fields from state and district sources to reduce principals’ data collection burden.
