The Morgan County Board of Education unanimously approved a slate of contracts, grant applications, leases and personnel recommendations at its June meeting, and recognized the district transportation team for 21 years of inspections with noted accomplishments.
The board approved a quotation dated June 9, 2025, from Ambit Solutions for an IP intercom system for the Rural Development Park; board members also approved the 2025–26 board member mini-grant program and matching 50/50 grant applications. The board approved a lease between the Morgan County Board of Education and Community Action Partnership of North Alabama Inc. for one Head Start classroom and playground at Cateca School, effective August 2025 through July 2026, and an agreement for the district to furnish food service to that child/adult care center.
Other approved items included a dual-enrollment/dual-credit agreement with Calhoun Community College, a client-services agreement with Sunbelt for sign-language interpreters covering October 2025 through May 27, 2026, and a proposal from Terracon (P.E. 5251058) for special inspections and construction materials testing for athletic upgrades at Brewer High School. The board also approved a cost estimate from North American Video and Sound Inc. and a series of revised board policies listed on the agenda.
On personnel, Superintendent Glenn presented items numbered 1 through 62 for approval; the board voted unanimously to approve those personnel recommendations. The board also approved informational within-school transfers as listed on the agenda.
At the start of the meeting the board presented a recognition for the Morgan County Schools bus-inspection team, noting 21 years of inspections and thanking staff for their work transporting students. The board also recognized Dana Spiegle as the new elementary education director.
