Board ends Facilities360 contract after missed cleaning shifts, approves RWK as replacement

The Lapeer County board voted to terminate a recently signed janitorial contract with Facilities360 and approved a replacement contract with RWK after county staff reported repeated service failures during the first week of the vendor’s contract.
A facilities manager told commissioners Facilities360 failed to provide adequate staffing, saying background checks did not pass for many of the vendor’s workers and that the first night produced “absolutely no service.” The manager reported missed trash collection, little or no vacuuming, and uncovered keys and keycards allowing unvetted personnel after hours; security video showed multiple unvetted people in county facilities, the manager said.
Commissioners moved to terminate Facilities360’s contract and then voted to approve a new janitorial agreement with RWK. The board’s motions were made and seconded and approved by voice votes. Staff said a final payment to Facilities360 had been issued to bring the vendor current before termination.
County officials credited internal maintenance staff for stepping in to do basic cleaning during the vendor’s short tenure and emphasized that vetting and secure access are critical when contractors work in buildings that house legal documents and county records.
The board asked staff to continue tracking contractor performance and to report back if additional contract or security reviews are needed.
