The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board on July 10 approved a lease with GEO Academies Louisiana Inc. for the former White Hills Elementary facility. The lease agreement authorizes GEO Academies to occupy the building for 12 months at a monthly rate of $23,333.

No public commenters opposed the lease; Kevin Teasley, founder of GEO Foundation and GEO Academies, spoke during public comment to thank the board and district staff for cooperation and praised the superintendent’s role in facilitating the arrangement.

Board members moved and approved the lease on the agenda; staff said the lease will allow the type 2 charter to begin operations at the White Hills facility.
