Senator Ryan Weld presents $30,000 legislative funds to Hancock County ambulance service; other checks to be mailed

State Sen. Ryan Weld, R, visited the Hancock County Commission on July 10 to present legislative economic development assistance funding and to explain the distribution process for the grants. Weld told commissioners the funds begin with legislative approvals, move to the governor’s office and then are distributed by check; he presented one check at the meeting and said other awards would be mailed by the county. "It is my pleasure to help be able to help, and present him today with a check for $30,000," Weld said as he handed the check to Joe Polgar for the county ambulance service. Weld said the $30,000 will support the Hancock County Ambulance Service’s ongoing vehicle purchases and related needs. He also referenced support intended for local veterans’ organizations and the deputy sheriff—s association; those checks, he said, will be mailed to recipients. Weld noted that canine programs involve significant training and equipment costs and that funding can help offset those expenses. Commissioners accepted the presentation and authorized dispersal of the legislative economic development funds by voice vote. The meeting record shows a unanimous "aye" on the motion to accept and disperse the funds. The commission did not vote on detailed spending plans for the mailed checks during the meeting; Weld asked residents to contact his office to begin future applications for similar projects.
