Friends of the Library report: summer revenue and planned sales support programs

The Friends of the Library reported summer bookshop revenue and plans for fundraisers and donations during the trustees' meeting. Mary (Meredith) Jones, incoming president of the Friends of the Library, said the bookshop made $636.98 in May and $487.53 in June; the group's goal is $500 per month. The Friends plan to donate $9,570 to library programs in the coming fiscal year. Upcoming sales include a CD/books-on-CD sale in the community room on Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., priced at two items for $1, and the annual used book sale scheduled for Sept. 11–13. The Friends have boxed retired CDs and plan to use volunteers, including local scout troops, to help with sales logistics. The Friends also showed a completed StoryWalk logo and said they hope the StoryWalk installation will be ready in the fall. Mary said the organization is seeking more volunteers; she noted that three core volunteers are undergoing chemotherapy or recovering from serious health problems and the group is "limping along" until more help is available. Trustees encouraged new members to join the Friends and offered to help promote upcoming events.
