Santa Rita board approves Brenda Burrett as McKinnon Elementary assistant principal

Board members and district staff praised Burrett’s years of service and the personal impact she has had on students. One board member said Burrett began as a student in the district and is entering her 25th year in education in the Santa Rita Union School District. Another trustee told the board that Burrett had been a teacher, a math instructor and an academic coach at John Gutierrez Middle School before moving into administration.
Brenda Burrett addressed the board after the appointment, saying, “I just wanna say how honored I am to be able to continue my career in here in the Santa Rita Union School District. There’s no other place I’d rather be, and I really do look forward to working with students, staff, parents of McKinnon Elementary.”
Trustees noted the appointment was part of the consent agenda and was approved by voice vote. The board and staff took a group photo and encouraged Burrett to celebrate with family and colleagues after the meeting.
