Commission staff said the Mead Park playground fundraising campaign has raised sufficient funds and that the playground equipment is scheduled to be ordered in August.
“We plan to order in August,” Ryan said, adding the equipment has a 10-to-12-week lead time and that site excavation is expected to begin in the fall or winter. Ryan and other commissioners said the full plan will be brought back to the commission for approval at the September meeting.
Commissioners also noted some equipment elements were discontinued and may be replaced with similar elements; staff said they will present final drawings and any design substitutions before construction. The fundraising committee has completed its primary campaign and will reconvene to finalize construction timelines.
No vote was required at this meeting; the commission scheduled a further review of the finalized plan at the September meeting to consider final approval and scheduling.
