Council renames Citizens Utility Advisory Board to Community Utility Advisory Committee

The Milwaukie City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance amending the municipal code to rename the Citizens Utility Advisory Board as the Community Utility Advisory Committee (CUAC).
City Recorder Scott Stauffer presented the ordinance change, telling the council that the bylaws adopted March 4 had already renamed the advisory body and the municipal code needed a corresponding update. Stauffer said staff conducted keyword searches and vetted the change to locate all code references.
A motion for first and second reading by title only and adoption was moved and seconded; the council’s roll call recorded ayes from Councilor Massey, Council President Anderson, Councilor Stavenjord, Councilor Castorvati and Mayor Beatty, and the mayor announced, “Motion carried 5 to 0, ordinance 2252.” Stauffer read the ordinance by title twice as required by code.
The amendment replaces the former board name with the committee name across the municipal code to align the code with the new bylaws. Stauffer said he had screened the code and believed the changes were limited to two-word substitutions ("citizens" to "community" and "board" to "committee").
