Staff and the Technical Transportation Committee decided to keep the emergency vehicle preemption project fully funded because of its safety purpose. The South Ninth Street allocation will be reduced by "a pinch under or a pinch over $200,000 less," and Soldiers Home Road will lose a little over $28,000 in federal funds, according to staff statements. The board approved the amendment by roll call vote. Staff said they amended both the active 2024 TIP and the draft 2026 TIP so programming matches available funds at the time of obligation. Why it matters: reduced federal allocations can delay or shrink project scopes, require additional local match, or prompt reprioritization. The board chose to preserve funding for the safety-related emergency vehicle preemption work and absorb the reductions on two major roadway projects.
