Committee notes award and grant for County Highway XX; LRIP expected to lower county share

The Highway Committee was briefed July 10 on County Highway XX from the Columbia county line to State Highway 23 and on the LRIP grant that will reduce the county’s portion of the project.

Staff said the project was advertised in May and bids opened mid-May. "We advertised in May, opened the bids, mid May ... I met with the administrator a week later on the 28th. We executed the AECOM construction oversight ... Project is set to begin in August with DL Gasser," Pat, the highway department head, told the committee.

Pat provided a budget summary: the bid from D.L. Gasser came in at $183,700; construction oversight was estimated at $50,000 and administrative fees at $10,000, putting the county’s total cost before grants at about $245,000. Staff said they expect to receive LRIP funds of about $112,000 to offset the county share, leaving the county with roughly a $100,000 obligation after the grant.

The committee approved a resolution authorizing the Adams County Highway Department to accept LRIP grant funds for this reconditioning project; approval was by voice vote. The motion to accept LRIP funds for the County Highway XX project was called and carried (motion seconded by Kim in the meeting record).

Staff said the project is slated to begin in August and that LRIP timing and final invoices will determine cashflow impacts. Pat noted the county’s LRIP request reduces the county portion and frees funds for other uses.

The meeting record did not show any roll-call vote; staff said they will return if further adjustments to awards or funding are needed.
